PHOTOGRAPHY

"Added to the File" is the first student-run fashion and art publication at Georgetown University that publishes new issues revolving around a central theme & word each semester. As the Director of Photography, I led the visual storytelling process, coordinating large-scale productions to document and celebrate the university's diverse artistic community.

• Creative Translation: I collaborate directly with Creative Directors to translate abstract, thematic concepts into actionable visual direction, planning photoshoot aesthetics and approving high-concept visual directions.
• Production & Logistics: I manage the end-to-end logistics for each shoot, which included securing studio spaces, organizing specialized camera gear, building custom sets, and coordinating with hair, makeup, and wardrobe teams.
• Post-Production Standards: I manage the editing workflow, utilizing Adobe Bridge for sorting, Lightroom for color grading, and Photoshop for high-end editorial retouching to guarantee a consistent print-ready style.

• Interdisciplinary Set Direction: I co-direct shoots alongside set designers and styling departments, physically building backdrops and prop sets to fully immerse subjects in each semester's visual narrative.
• On-Set Leadership: I direct a team of over 15 photographers during live shoots, providing technical guidance on lighting, composition, and framing to ensure everyone captured cohesive imagery under tight deadlines.
• Cross-Functional Curation: I review, curate, and provide constructive feedback on final visual assets, working alongside the Directors of Design and Writing to align the imagery with the magazine's layout and editorial prose.

This role taught me that successful visual storytelling is as much about operational rigor as it is about creative flair. Navigating the cross-functional dynamics between styling, design, and writing teams required constant communication to ensure our collective vision remained unified despite shifting logistical demands.

I learned how to balance the intensity of high-production shoots with the strict realities of publication deadlines, ultimately discovering that great imagery is the result of methodical execution, technical mastery, and the ability to foster a collaborative creative environment.
